The Fort Wayne Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated demonstrated its commitment to health equity and compassionate service through its Bags of Prevention initiative.

Led by the International Awareness and Involvement Committee, the project supported Positive Resource Connection, formerly known as the AIDS Task Force. In response to the organization’s identified needs, chapter members donated cleaning products, toilet paper, paper towels, and monetary contributions used to purchase additional supplies.

The initiative also reinforced the importance of HIV/AIDS awareness, prevention, education, advocacy, and reducing stigma within the community. Through informed outreach and collaborative service, the chapter seeks to help individuals protect their health while supporting organizations that serve those affected by HIV/AIDS.

International Awareness and Involvement is one component of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust. Through Bags of Prevention, the Fort Wayne Alumnae Chapter connected local service with a broader commitment to health education, human dignity, and community well-being.
