“The chapter's goal is to raise awareness of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. We want to educate the community on how they can keep themselves and others safe. We believe through education, advocacy, and collaboration, we can help to put an end to AIDS.”

The Fort Wayne Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is putting people first—through compassion, advocacy, and action. As part of their ongoing commitment to health equity and HIV/AIDS awareness, the chapter recently donated Bags of Prevention to support individuals in the community and clients of local outreach organizations. These thoughtfully assembled kits contain essential items designed to promote health, safety, and education. But beyond the supplies, each bag carries a deeper message: You are seen. You are valued. You are not alone.
This project was carried out through the International Awareness and Involvement principle, one point of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust. Focused on addressing global health and humanitarian concerns through local action, this effort reflects the chapter’s belief in service that uplifts individuals, strengthens communities, and connects us to a greater global mission. From increasing access to resources to reducing stigma, we demonstrate that when people come first, meaningful change begins.
