The Fort Wayne Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. proudly participated in the annual Out of the Darkness Walk, hosted by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).

Each year, our chapter comes together to honor the memory of those lost to suicide, support individuals and families impacted by suicide, and raise awareness about the importance of mental health and suicide prevention.

Through our continued participation, we reaffirm our commitment to promoting mental health awareness, supporting our community, and reminding those affected that they are not alone.

Raising Awareness and Promoting Hope

Suicide remains a serious public health concern affecting individuals, families, and communities across the nation. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nearly 49,000 lives were lost to suicide in the United States in 2024.

Suicide prevention begins with awareness, understanding, and compassionate support. Recognizing warning signs, encouraging open conversations about mental health, and connecting individuals with available resources can make a meaningful difference.

Through our continued participation in the Out of the Darkness Walk, the Fort Wayne Alumnae Chapter reaffirms its commitment to promoting mental health awareness and supporting the well-being of our community.

Together, we walk in remembrance, support, and hope.
