Civic Engagement in Action: Community Voter Registration Drive

On Sunday, September 15, 2024, the Fort Wayne Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated partnered with the League of Women Voters to conduct a community voter registration drive in recognition of National Voter Registration Day.

The initiative was held at six local Black churches, allowing chapter members and volunteers to connect directly with residents throughout the Fort Wayne community. During the drive, more than 100 individuals received assistance checking their voter registration status, and 25 new voters completed registration.

The Fort Wayne Alumnae Chapter extends its appreciation to Redemption Church, New Covenant Worship Center, Pilgrim Baptist Church, New Zion Tabernacle Church, Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, and Union Baptist Church for supporting the initiative and welcoming volunteers into their congregations.

Through voter education and registration, the chapter continues to promote informed civic participation and help community members prepare to exercise their right to vote.
